As I Watch the Inauguration Coverage…

I am watching President Barak Obama walk along the parade route with his beautiful wife Michelle and I am thankful.

I feel deep emotions rising in my chest as I think of the equality that now exists in this country because of Martin Luther King Jr.’s sacrifice so many years ago.

I think of my cousins Kylie, D.J. and Austin and the exciting lives they live with great hope for their futures. I think of Kylie’s little boy, my sons’ cousin, Jaylen and his amazing curls that win the hearts of strangers. Not to mention his sweet smile and temperament. I am excited to see Jack and Ben play get to know him better and better in the coming years.

I think of so many friends who I’ve laughed and cried with. I think of Adam Boone who I had such a crush on in high school (who’s with me, Minnetonka?!).

I laugh with Al Roker and am thrilled for him and his moments with President Obama and Vice President Biden along the parade route. 🙂

I rejoice that our country embraces these beautiful people and that we recognize God’s creation of them in His Image.

And I look forward to my sons experiencing days just like this day.

I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day the state of Alabama, whose governor’s lips are presently dripping with the words of interposition and nullification, will be transformed into a situation where little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls and walk together as sisters and brothers. ~Martin Luther King Jr.

(I have better pics of the boys together than this, just not on my phone!)

Here’s a cute one! Thanks, Julie!
